Welcome to House of Hope Nicaragua

In the beginning...

Baptism

In 2001, after speaking to a group of prostitutes, God began to birth a vision to help those women. The Holy Spirit confirmed the need to open a vocational center for the women and to provide them with a means to make a living and establish them in the Lord. Since that initial encounter the Lord has provided us with the land and we have built structures for job training, and housing for young girls and women with children. Please take a moment to see what God is doing at House of Hope, Nicaragua.

Now, after more than eight years of evangelistic outreach to prostitutes in Managua many women have come to know Christ and a valiant group has made a stand to stop working the streets and attempt to support their families by various means, such as peddling candy and trinkets or doing laundry and ironing.

Praise and worship

In June of 2004, I started a weekly support group. At first we had only two women in the group, then 25, and now we've grown to about 225 women each week. We have Bible study and prayer and are working at the cottage industry of making greeting cards to sell to supplement the income that the women have from other small jobs. To read more about the card making cottage industry or purchase some cards go here.

The small amount of money they earn from making the greeting cards helps to feed their children and provide for them to go to school. I also collect donations of clothes, shoes and household items from visiting teams and internationals. At Christmas we provide them with a basket of basic food supplies. In February, we help out with a box of school materials for each of their children who attend school. For a listing of needed items which may be donated to House of Hope please go to our Wish List page.We have gotten scholarships for many of their children to continue attending school as the $3 monthly fees are too much for these women to pay.

Ladies in worship

We have started a Micro Grant Program. These women are able to start small businesses with the help of a grant of approximately $75.

We have implemented a mother/child sponsorship program to help women in supporting their families.
